Sutra Offering

The completed sutras will be offered at the Hokkesoji-in East Pagoda. This sacred structure plays a central role in preserving the teachings of the Lotus Sutra, the core doctrine of Enryakuji Temple, and serves as the heart of Hieizan’s unique tradition of “Sutra Offering.” Normally closed to the public, the East Pagoda is a protected space where monks conduct sacred rituals and sutra offerings. Access for general visitors is extremely rare, making this truly a “special opening” of a deeply spiritual site.
